Deli Home takes next step toward net-zero with SBTi commitment

Deli Home has signed the commitment letter from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), pledging to align its entire value chain with the Paris Climate Agreement and limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5°C.

On the way to net-zero by 2050
The United Nations has agreed to halve global CO2 emissions by 2030 and achieve net-zero by 2050. Companies committing to this must offset any remaining emissions. SBTi experts independently verify these paths. This means that all emissions that cannot be reduced must be offset. Companies committing to this goal aim to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across their entire value chain by 2050. The SBTi Net-Zero Standard is the highest ambition a company can set today.

Scientific foundation
Jan-Willem Smits, CFO of Deli Home: "As an international player, our activities have an impact on the environment. We feel responsible for reducing our ecological footprint because this is essential for the future of our planet. That’s why we continuously improve our processes. As a producer and distributor of wood products, we naturally feel a strong responsibility for the sustainable use of natural resources. We have set the goal of reducing our CO2 footprint by 15% by 2025 compared to 2020, and we are well on track to meet this target. Of course, we are also looking further ahead and have joined the SBTi initiative. Through this, we are committing to a 50% emissions reduction by 2030 and striving to become a net-zero company by 2050. With SBTi, we are building a sustainable future together. This is not a one-time action, but an ongoing journey towards a better world.”

About SBTi
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a collaboration between CDP, UN Global Compact, WWF, and the World Resources Institute. The partnership encourages ambitious climate action in the private sector by enabling organizations to set science-based emissions reduction targets.
